I AM NOT WISHING FOR THE STAR

"Hurry up Gaspar, you are taking way too long. You should have had the camels fed this morning. You knew we would be leaving," Melchior told him. "I know, I know, but what was I to do? My servants went into the marketplace bazaar, and didn't get back till late", Gaspar said. "Hurry, Hurry up, you, two", Said Balthasar, "we have not much time to waste. God has spoken to us, and we must go. We must go as the Book of Daniel, has given us direction." And so the great caravan along with their livestock, and supplies, went off into the wilderness, into and through the mountain gorges. During their trek, with eighty four of their servants and assistants. They marveled at the expanse of the universe filled with the beauty of the celestial firmament. "I cannot believe how beautiful and clear the sky is. The glory of the creation of the Lord," Melchior said. "Yes, Yes. It is a miracle, God has given us the special privilege to travel outside of our local boundaries to see things we have never saw before." As they sat around the fire, drinking a warm beverage, they pondered and shared their experiences of God's goodness. Then at that moment, Gaspar cried aloud. "Wow! did you see that?" "What? What are you talking about?" Said the other two. "That was a meteor! Over beyond that ridge." "Yes. Yes. Glory to the Lord, my son", said Balthasar. The next morning they continued their journey towards the far away land they never knew. It was a tiresome journey and a very dangerous one. Night after night, God had guided them with the sign of a star. The sign of a mighty quasar in the heavenlies. Then after much geography covered and difficult roads. They saw the star in the distance. They saw the activity of a distant city. After inquiry made, they determined it was the capital of a nation, Jerusalem, Israel. One they somehow felt affinity for. One they were gladdened and felt a certain holiness about. Melchior commented,"How do you think the their ruler will accept us?" Do you think he knows about the coming King to be born?" "Well, we will never know until we reach into his palace and ask him", Gaspar said. "Yes, it is true. We will enter the city in the morning", said Balthasar. "For now, let us get some rest, and make sure our animals are fed and rested up as well, for the journey." The next morning upon entering the city, they were in awe. Everyone was amazed at them, and questioned who they were and what was the purpose of their visit. Finally, after much questioning, they asked to see the king. King Herod. A regimen of soldiers and an officer had led them to the palace. "Who is it you seek?", said Herod. "We seek the King to be born. God has spoken to us, and has guided us by a star for a thousand miles. That is why we are here. We will not leave until we have fulfilled our purpose. The purpose of worshipping the Christ. The King", said Balthasar. "Yes, yes. Go on your way. And please do not hesitate to inform me of your find. That I also may come to worship the king. You may go on your journey", Herod said. "Hey, did you feel what I felt? That man. I felt he was very evil. I felt as if he were demon possessed." Said Gaspar. "Might have been. For I felt a certain wickedness to his words, said Melchior. "Let us contiune on our journey, my brothers", said Balthasar. As they traveled many more miles. They encamped in the hills. And there it was. The star. They got very excited and cried out with tears. 'Oh, God! You are Faithful. You have led us, and there it is. You have kept your promise! Thank you. Thank you! Baltahsar said, "We must go at once. Let us go." So they packed their many belonging victuals, supplies, and livestock. "There it is there! It is that little town." Gaspar said. After much debate they realized it was Bethlehem, the City of Bread. 'Look a stable. A stable. It is over that stable." Upon entering, they saw it. They saw a man along with his wife. A baby in a manger, wrapped in swaddling clothes. Animals all around. It was then they broke in tears. They had never in their lives ever felt what they were experiencing. They had an encounter with God. With God's Only Son. Then Joseph and Mary, bewildered, and surprised, looked at them. Joseph said, Sirs, "Peace, Peace. What my friends, what is the purpose of your visit?" Each of them with crying with tears , and sobbing, lifted up their voices. "We have come to worship the King! God has led us through the wilderness for many days and different timetables. And now here we are! We have seen the King face to face. Praise God Almighty, who has sent His One and Only Son. And to think, we are a big part of it." "Peace and blessing to you", said Joseph. "May God bless you for all you have done." "Here, we present our gifts to the Great King", said Gaspar, the youngest of the three. "Gold. For He is born to be a King." Next was Melchior. "Here is Frankincense. For He is born to be a High Priest of the Most High God." Next, Balthasar said, 'Here is Myrrh. of the very best from my land. Very precious. He will live a life of spiritual impact. Through Him, the world again, will never be the same. This myrrh, represents, He will die to Himself, and give His life as a ransom for many. With these gifts, marks the ending of our journey before the Lord. And the beginning of a new one. Mary said, "May God bless you on your journey back to your land. We will never forget all you have done. May God watch over you and protect you."

In this narrative, I have written, we could only imagine, what it must have been like. The hardship of travel, weather conditions and danger. Yes, we do not wish for the Star. We seek the Star. We have found Him. Christ, the King. The Son of God. God the Son. What message does the gospel story present to you and me, at this time of Christmas?

1. They prepared their hearts to seek God.

They came a mighty long way. Tradition has it, they were from ancient Persia. The distance was about 1,000 miles. It means they paid, and funded their own trip, to seek the King. What about you? Do you prepare your heart to seek God? Christians of today, find it a chore to even go to church on sundays and or travel to a service five miles away? Not so the wisemen. They prepared their hearts for the journey among the ancient trails.

2. They were lively readers and students of scripture.

Tradition has it, they were avid students of the Book of Daniel. That in it, they found clues as to the birth of Christ Jesus. God told Joshua. you will have success, if you study the Book of the Law. Josh 1:8 The Psalmist said, "Thy word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." Psa. 119:105

3. They were obedient to God's voice, and direction.

Scripture says, they went from a far away country. It doesn't say, they hesitated, and or went grudgingly. It says, they came to the place where the young Babe was. And presented Him with their gifts, from a far away land.

At this Christmas season. May we give to God our undivided attention. May we give attention to 3 things:

1. The gold we possess.

The world worships money. Though money is important to pay our bills. The issue is not monetary. It is the heart. It talks of what we own. May we recognize, that whatever we own belongs to God. What a beautiful pattern the wisemen set for you and me. May we worship Christ Jesus, with our gold. After all, Is He not our King? One day, we will walk on streets of Gold in heaven.

2. Give Him our Frankincense. Heb 3:1; 2 Cor 4:10

We give Him our frankincense, by allowing Him to redeem us. And recieve Him as our covering. As the sacrifice covered the sins of the people. So He as the Offering, has covered us. Now, with Him in our life, we go around with a sweet fragrance wherever we go. Bearing about the life of Christ in our heart. Therefore, we can also pray as priests before the Lord. Taking people before God. And bring God to the people. May we go to the cities, with this great news.

3. Being partakers of the Myrrh.

Jesus said, if we die, we live. The way up is down. To give is to recieve. To the human mind, sounds like contradiction. But to God, it is right side up. Rom. 12:1-2 How do you know you, as a Christian, are living a crucified life?

1.) You're looking forward

2.) You have no other agenda

3.) You are not coming down.

4.) You experience what it is which comes with suffering.

Yes, my brothers and sisters. We do not wish upon the star. We leave that kids game to the likes of Rolls Royce. You know, that old bunk jam. Rather, we follow the Lord. The One who gave His life. The One who didn't mince about with the trivial. But stayed focused, and died a sinners death. Yet, God raised Him from the dead. From the Cradle to the Cross. He is alive forever more. "Thank God for His unspeakable gift." 2 Cor 9:15 May you have a Merry Christmas. God loves you. Please do not forget to share the gospel with at least one person this week. And don't forget to go to church, wherever you are. I love you. God bless you.

THE HEROES IN OUR CHURCHES

The greatest heroes in life, the most passionate in society. The influencers in our community, are in our churches. Though many in life are involved in many endeavors and worthy projects. The heroes in our churches are those who deal in eternal values. In principles and a purpose that affects people's eternal destiny. We cannot put a price tag on the work of those Christian servants, volunteers, and workers, who give of their time. Who sacrifice to get the job done. Who take their call as important to building the kingdom of God and count it a privilege to be a teammate in the work of the Lord. Along side their pastors and or fellow servants of the Lord. Yep, you said it, the people who serve, are the greatest heroes in our churches and society. And let me tell you that, that is no mere exaggeration. It is gospel truth.

1. True heroes help build the church.

Their whole purpose is to disciple people with the love of Christ. They do not see themselves as just a number. They see themselves as pertinent. As essential, as valuable, and or born for a purpose. They help build the church.

2. True heroes give of their time.

They say, time is the only thing we cannot recieve back. We can give our talents, our treasures. And since God is faithful, He rewards us and and causes bounty to flood our hearts and households. Yet time once given can never be given back to us (Except in eternity). True heroes give of their time.

3. True heroes Love God with all their heart.

They have a growing relationship with God. Sometimes we wonder if God listens to us at all. Well, He does. He knows what we need before we ask Him. Matt 6:8. What really gets God's attention is when we follow after Him. When we seek Him. Biblical history tells us when we seek after Him, run after Him. Prepare our heart to seek Him. It catches His attention and sets the atmosphere for Him to move in our life and situation.

4. True heroes love people.

They are resolved. They know where they came from. They have experienced the hardships of life and do not want others to make the same mistakes. They love poeple. They do not use people. They do not abuse people. They do not lie to people. They seek to encourage them with God's love and God's word. They are mature. They do not attempt to play the Holy Spirit. They tell people God's truth. Not what they interpret as God's truth. They are for reals. They love people and desire for them to make it in God and Christianity. 2 Tim. 1:1-12

God has called us to make a difference. We are born with a purpose. And you know, if you had seen where and how I grew up, it would surprise you. Inner city surrounding, poverty all around. Neglect and violence constantly in my part of the city. Even today, I stand amazed at God's keeping power. Many of my old acquaintances and friends are gone, buried, put away for life. I could have been just like them. Not to say I'm better. But I am taken aback by God's love. I do not deserve one thing at all. I know that. I should not be here. Alive period. Even now, I still feel a tug from God. I'm constantly asking God, 'What do you want to do?" What is it You want me to do? I'm open to You." And that's the type of people we have in our churches. They are the ones who have a champion's and a hero heart. So, since the new year is upon us, may I share with you some important details from a pastor's perspective, we can take into the new year (It's concerning ministry)? Some few helpful points to take ministry to another level in 2010?

1. Recognize the bottom line is the bottom line.

In our churches we have many nice people. They are involved and grow. Yet in ministry God has called us to be faithful. Faithful to the task. Faithful to building. And what I mean about the bottom line is, "Did the job get done?' Many, many, many, many times I hear reasons (No not Earth, Wind & Fire). Reasons of why things didn't get done and why. Yet, you, me, the team, people, our churches, will be better off, and better served, if either we did it or not. If you have been appointed to a task. Volunteered to do a ministry responsibility, then it is your job to fulfill it. Col 4:17. Could you imagine if Jesus would of came to earth, did everything He should of done, and in the middle, would of wavered and went another direction? No. He got the job done. Heb 12:2 Some weak, lazy and immature so called Christians love to shy away. They loathe talk just as this. They say, "Well, then I won't do anything. I don't want any of this on my little conscience." There are actually people who turn in their leadership or ministry badges because of this. There are even many across our nation, who go to different churches because of this. When you tell your daughter to clean the kitchen, and or your son to take out the trash, Either they did it or they didn't. Saul? Samuel told him. "What's that noise in the background? Saul said, "Well that's the things I saved." Then the hammer came down on him, do you remember in 1 Samuel? So for us, let's be people who do our best for God. Because the bottom line is the bottom line. The better, and sooner we learn this, the better off we will be. And it is like this anywhere we go.

2. Realize Discipleship is not a bad word.

We live in a world and or country where we lack closeness. Do you remember the time when houses were made with porches? We used to hang out in our porches and talk the night away or relax with family members, and eat our food. Giving the dog our leftovers. Do you remember the time when cars were made with a full seat in the front. When a husband and wife could sit side by side? What happened? Do you remember the time we could pick up the phone and say hello? Instead, now all we ever do is receive text's? We are so compartmentalized. So separated. Where church members see fellowship as an option, and not the thing God wants us to do. If you were to pass. Who in the world would take your place? I think about this daily. Hey, What if God were to call me to a different country. Who would take my place(Now in my eyes, I ain't all that. That's a fact)? Who is your disciple? Many times in our leaders meetings, I stress this over and over. Some think its a little clich'e or tactic I use. How mistaken they are. WE ARE HERE! Because of discipleship. Jesus discipled. The Early church discipled. Paul discipled. I was discipled. Are you a disciple? If your not, then no wonder you have no disciples. If you are, excellent! In this upcoming year, let's together get busier for Jesus.

3. Be committed to thoroughness.

We live, once again, in a half -hearted world. Our teenagers are not made as before. I wonder why? I think technology has something to do with it. They are stuck on it. At the expense of what is really important. Cell phones, texting, Play Stations, IPods, and so on and so on. Our past generations were hard workers. They accomplished their work. That's the way it is, with some in ministry. You tell them to make sure things get done. You go back and check up, and you realize they did the opposite, and they did it their way. Because that's how they felt it was the best thing for them to do. Then others who are pure and have open hearts see it and follow suit. And so begins a new generation who has grown crooked. You in ministry, company, corporation, business or athletic team. Must be committed to thoroughness. We want everything so fast. I've even heard of some who fry their turkeys for Thanksgiving! Instead of putting that bad boy into the oven, and waiting, and waiting, and waiting. For all good things take time. Will you be committed to thoroughness this upcoming year?

4. Refresh yourself with well balanced spiritual meals.

You see any frustrated workers lately? Oh, I have. I've seen myself in the mirror many times, over the years. You know, it's so easy to go, and go, and go, and seek to fulfill the task, and end up with the Martha Syndrome as prevalent in our churches, as the so-called Swine Flu epidemic. As a matter of fact, what happened to that faithful worker, in the past in your churches? Then somehow, slipped out the back door, and into the background of Christendom? Or the same type, who you've recieved word of their now sinful and freestyle life. Living life to their carnal gusto. How does that happen? Some here are chomping at the bits to blame churches, ministers, and insenstive Christians. Before you do. You better be careful what you say. Especially to someone as me. I've been through things I will never share with you. If I can show you my back, how many stab wounds would you see? So be very careful what you say. That out of the way, let me say what I was, before you distracted me (Just joking). They saw the ministry as more important than their spiritual life. They had the Martha Syndrome. They wanted to do a work for God, but they forgot Jesus! Then they complained about the Mary's in our churches. Listen, I, you, us, we all need to be fed spiritually. If not we'll die. We can't make it without God's word. Matt 4:4 Take the time to learn, listen, to take in. To be touched from God. To be trained in God's word. To be mentored and have a godly person speak into your life. I'm telling you the truth, it'll make a big difference in you. It'll save your life. You'll constantly have a bounce in your step, and a song in your heart. For ministry is an overflow. Overflow of God's Spirit in your life.

May 2010' be your best. You will make difference. You are called by God. He has not left you. You are not alone. You can make it in Christ. DO NOT GIVE UP! Do not go into the new year pessimistic or carrying baggage, other than your backback for combat. God has not left you. Please, take the time to pray. If there's issues you've been bothered with. Let God know about it. Even though, He already does. Then go forth in Jesus name. And together we will live for Him. For our greatest days are ahead of us. Oh, Don't forget. You are that hero in our churches.

DO YOU SEE, WHAT I SEE?

This year has gone so fast. I remember, last year's season, as if it were yesterday. 2010 is upon us. From, January till now, where has the year gone, we think? Once again we will cross a threshold of time and history. And another year will have passed us. Yet, its what was accomplished in these last three hundred and some days, that matters. Doesn't it? Are you prepared for 2010? Next year will be filled with mountain highs and valley lows. It'll consist of stormy weather, and blistery days. The sun will beat down upon us, like there's no tomorrow. Those beautiful fragrances and chirps of the birds and flowers will consume us, as well as the falling of leaves in autumn. Do you see what I see? Now let's put on our 3D glasses. Let me mention three things we cannot let pass us by, in these last three weeks of 09' They are the three R's: Revival; Relationships, and Right Thinking.

1. REVIVAL

Revival talks of life. It talks of vibrancy of living. It talks of spiritual fortitude and purpose. And the question arises. Where have you been? God told Elijah, "What doest thou here, Elijah?"

a. It so easy to get into a habit or rut.

We live, we take care of responsibilities. We do the right important things. Yet, if not careful the spiritual element in Christ, can diminish, due to neglect.

b. It's not that easy to get out detrimental habits.

When I was a young adult. I began shaving(I know this sounds gross). I would use old shavers from my brothers. I'd wash them of course. I would use them time and again. To the point I would say, 'Isn't there a better way of shaving? I don't want to look like Grizzly Adams. But this is hard.!" For the blade had become very dull. Then one day I went to a Men's retreat. A brother saw me doing as I had always done. Then he said, 'Here try this." It was new blade. I did, and I said, 'Where did you buy this!?" He was surprised. So I had found a revelation. three elements in Revival:

Repentance -We must come to grips with our spiritual condition. I'll be honest with you. I feel very good, that my spiritual condition need not be measured to any man or woman. It is measured to Christ Jesus. We can fool some people most of the time. But we cannot fool Christ. Have we come to the place of honesty with ourselves? Repentance is a change of mind, of will and heart. In other words, its a 360 turnaround.

Return -Repentance is a call back to the love of our heavenly Father. It is the longing for the home of the Prodigal son. It is the yearning of being reconnected with God. Return back to our spiritual devotions. The thing about Abraham, was that wherever he went, he built altars. Lets build back those altars in our homes and hearts (If they're broken down.).

Remain -Jesus said, in John 5:5, that we will bear much fruit, if we remain in Him. We cannot go wrong with God by our side.

2. RELATIONSHIPS

People, people, people. Our whole lives have to do with people. Wherever we go, its people. God created people. Yes, you and me. Sometimes our whole problems have to do with people. Whether on the road like me, or at work in that manufacturing corporation. Someone once mentioned, that our greatest problem is, "I'm thinking that you're thinking, that I'm thinking, that you're thinking wrong about me!!?" People are very complexed human beings at times.

a. Family relationships

Family is important. God loves your family. If you're married? How is your relationship with your husband or wife? Are you growing? Or is it nothing but cats and dogs everyday? In Spanish its said, "Peros y gatos." Remember everything flows from the top. If our hearts are right with God, starting with the man. then, our marriage and families will be influenced by a touch from heaven. I could go on and on. But I won't. As a mom or dad, brother or sister, are we getting along? Family relationships can hinder our prayer life. 1 Pet. 3:7

b. Loved ones

Sometimes we are hurt by the ones closest to us. Those are the ones that really hurt. Is there any unforgiveness that has developed in your heart? It can. It can become as a cancer or a internal calloused area. Did you know, many are ill (Not main cause. But maybe) because of unresolved issues in their emotional life and psychological life. Not to mention spiritual. For whatever affects the spiritual affects the physical. In other words, is there someone you must reconcile with? Maybe make it right with them and forgive. Sad to say many will go into 2010, still with anger in heart. With bitterness. With a Hatfield and McCoy mentality, all the while saying, they're Spirit filled, Christians. Just let it go. Give it to God. take the high road. This is something I have tried to do. Hey, life is tough. But with me bitter, it is torment. For I must live with myself. I'll share one. Ok. two examples. Naw. Just one. When my wife was diagnosed with cancer. She went through all the process. Lost her hair. Lost weight. Her skin color changed a bit. Her eating habits and sleeping patterns. Once I called her up to testify at church. It was the first time she had worn a wig. I was looking at the audience. I noticed when she had begun to speak. There was a person who no longer attends our church. Well, she chuckled and laughed at Vera. And I thought, "Wow!" what an inhumane, and indecent person. Wow, Ok, Ok." Me. I don't know. I have a very long memory. I guess God has blessed me with the capacity to remember dates, historical events and generational shifts. I don't know. And it could work either for good or bad (Thank God for His grace.). Well that hurt me, as a minister. Here I am losing my loved one. Then someone laughs at her. I'm the same kind of person as you. You can laugh all you want or say anything you want. But to laugh at the one you're losing to a terrible disease? (Oh, but who's laughing now? Vera is smiling down at us. I'll see her later) Hey, that hurts. I came to the conclusion, I can't do anything about it, but get worse. As a Christian, lugguge and baggage is one of the most deadly things we can carry. Its not even the enemy many times. It's the unwanted and unneeded luggage we carry around in life. Forgiveness is the key. It'll cause good things to happen in you and your family.

3. RIGHT THINKING

Do You See What I see? "Without a vision people perish", Prov 29:18. Did you know your brain is the greatest computer in the world? No, its not a Dell or a Mac, or any other computer system. It's that thing between your shoulders. Did you know, your brain has the capacity to record 800 memories per second for seventy -five years without ever getting tired? What is the Mind?

• The Mind is a Harbor
• The Mind is a Jewel
• The Mind is a Beehive
• The Mind is a Lightbulb

In other words, every thing that was created was the result of an idea. Our lives are an overflow of our thoughts. Your mind has different facets to it. It is the headquarters. It is where innovation stems from. Of course it communicates with your heart. In fact, what you wear each day, is the result of how you think of yourself. You see people dressed sometimes crazy. Well, that's what's in their minds.

A man found an eagle's egg and put it in a nest of a barnyard hen. The eagle hatched with the brood of chicks and grew up with them. All his life, the Eagle did what the barnyard chicks did, thinking he was a barnyard chicken. He scratched the earth for worms and insects. He clucked and cackled. And he would thrash his wings and fly a few feet in the air. Years passed and the eagle grew very old. One day he saw a magnificent bird above him in the cloudless sky. It glided in graceful majesty among powerful wind currents, with scarcely a beat of its strong golden wings. The old eagle looked up in awe. "Who's that?" he asked. "Why that's the Eagle, the king of the birds," said the neighbor. "He belongs to the sky. We belong to the earth -- We're chickens." So the eagle lived and Died a chicken, for that's what he thought he was.

If we're going to be prepared for the new year (Just 3 weeks away). we need right thinking. We need vision. God's vision. It's going to take faith. Faith to believe. Faith to live. Faith to progress. Faith to go forward. Abraham had a vision. God spoke to him about a certain land. And he never lost track of the vision. For he had faith to go where he had never gone before(You know, like Star Trek).

You will make it, if we work on these areas. And this is just a small list. There could be many others items on your list, God is dealing with you about. Either way. May we be prepared and have a great year.

THE SECRET LIFE OF AN ANT

THE SECRET LIFE OF AN ANT, is one of the most fascinating things one can ever imagine. They are one of the most intriguing and mind expanding specimens God has created. Solomon cautions us to take heed in Proverbs 6:6 "Go to the ant, you sluggard;consider its ways and be wise! 7 It has no commander,no overseer or ruler, 8 yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest." He also talks about them in Prov 30:25 "Ants are creatures of little strength, yet they store up their food in the summer;" It's been said, ants rule the world. Though they are insects, we think of them as minute pests. We shudder with anxiety and disgust, because of them, whenever we're at a picnic or church fellowship. Or when we remember we left a sugary item on the kitchen counter. Yet, what is it that elevates the ant to cover the entire world and get the job done? Well, I'm so glad you asked. Oh, by the way. Sorry for my delayed blog. I've been extremely busy. Just haven't had time. I wanted to blog about our founder, but I felt I would do that a different time. So what are some qualities of ants?

1. They are relentless.
Every summer, I have a battle. I do warfare. I walk very softly and gingerly, ready to attack at every noise, or whim of movement. I am a warrior. I run and get my weapons out. Okay. My fight is in my kitchen. And it is with those pesky ants. My weapon is a can of Raid. Those little critters do not respect me. They have total disregard for my dwellingplace. Many times I have gotten very angry for their evil habits. Habits of getting into my donuts or sweets, that is . . Why, those insects have even gotten into my food in my Frig?!! And gotten frozen in the process. They are relentless. In other words, they don't know the word, STOP! They have selective hearing. Is that how we should be in terms of the gospel and cutting edge ministry? We must keep on going. Think about it. Remember, Solomon told us to.

2. They are hard workers.
Ants carry more than their own weight. You see them hard at work wherever you go. In the yard, at your company, at a park, outside your house, and even in our kitchens. They work hard. For the life of me, I cannot even tell if there's even one complainer in the whole bunch. They work hard. There is no success without sweat. You may be experiencing a season where you are shedding blood, sweat and tears. Hey, God has a blessing for you. Hang in there. The blessing is right around the corner. He will see you through.

3. They work for a common cause.
They have a vision. Their vision is to prepare for winter, where it'll be so cold they cannot stand up on their skinny legs. So they go work underground instead. They provide for their group and ant society. In other words, ants work for the greater good. They're involved in public service of their colonies. What about you? Do you strive to excel your local church colony team? Ants do. They work for a common cause.

4. They know their role in their circle of life.
The thing about ants, is that there are probably about 20,000 species of ants. There's foraging ants. Scout ants. There's army Fire ants. There's the plain ol' house ants. In other words, they all know their role. Those fire ants have been known to kill cattle and people. Even in Africa, they tear or eat their way through villages and towns. They march on successfully, because they know their role. What about you? Do you even know why you were born? What your role on the team in your church ministry. What is your call? Are you even a participator? Or simply a spectator? To accomplish God's call for your life, you must find your purpose and function to the highest level of potential and capacity in your role. Start with finding your spiritual gifting. It is related to your call.

5. They plan for the future.
Everything ants do, is for the future. They are futuristic in their perspective. They realize it'll be a rainy day. That one day winter will come. Just as you and me. We must think about our future. The future of our churches and ministries, families and marriages. If you do not, who is going to do it for you? No one. The Bible says, 'Without a vision people perish. They cast off restraint." In other words they have no aim. They have no control. They have no discipline to get to where they see. Vision is such a catchy term nowadays. People use it as a slick cliche'. But, vision is seeing what others do not see. It is looking into the future. It is related to faith and our relationship with God. "Blessed are the pure in heart for they will see God." Jesus said in Matt 5. Pure means uncontaminated. Means without divided allegiance. Because of purity, we'll have a vision of God. I think it was John Maxwell who said, 'We might live under the same sky. But we don't all have the same horizons." Where will you be 5 years from now? Think about it. Your life depends on it. Hope it's right where God wants you to be. Ants plan for the future.

6. They work as a team.
As a team they communicate. I've watched these little critters for a time, a big long line of them. I'll mess with the lead ants. Then watch what they do. I'll notice that very fast, the line gets disrupted all the way to the back. Its like if they're saying, "Hey, watch out! That jerk of a homeowner just messed with us! Let's attack him! Yeah! Let's go!" And I stand amazed and say, 'Man, who do these ants think they are!? these little whippersnappers! They even talk to each other!" We are stronger if we work as teams. Now that doesn't replace things you are called to do alone. Responsibilites you must do. Yet, to expand in ministry we need teamwork. The day of the one-man show is over! Ask Kobe Bryant about that. Its not until he learned to involve his teammates, that he began winning. If you are not used to being on a team, first watch. See where you can fit in for the greater good of the church. Hey, if these little creatures can do it. Then surely you can do it.

7. They're willing to go wherever the cause requires.
Philip Ward, entomologist at the University of California at Davis said, "Nearly all human languages have a word for ant," Ants can adapt to any weather except extremely cold weather. So today, what is missing? What is missing in American Christianity? What is missing is, the call to go anywhere and everywhere. The faith to move when God calls to do so. I'm not talking church hopping here, folks. I'm talking about genuine and legitimate reaching people for the Lord. Going to a place, as Abraham, and establish a work for God. Going on an extended mission trip. And, Oh', how I long to do so. How I long to have 1000 men and women of God, I could send into the foreign field and across the U.S. of A. along with the resources to do so.' Why, you ask? Well, to reach hurting people. To be an instrument of God's grace and glory. To heal broken hearts and shattered dreams.

Yep, Ants have alot to teach us. So next time you think you're it. Or imagine you're someone else. Or feeling a bit dreary, worn out, or down. Look to the floor. Spot a little critter, and (Before you get that Raid out) investigate its ways. Look at its patterns. Behold its teamwork. Highlight their movements. And when you do, May God love you. And tell you, "Son, Daughter, I'm with you. Stay small in your own eyes, and I'll raise you up for my glory and honor!"

JULIE ARGUINZONI: 8 Qualities of a Spiritual Mother

I have been in Victory Outreach Int'l. a total of 27 years. I have been blessed challenged, encouraged, and equipped. I was given an opportunity for ministry, and have experienced some of my greatest joys of a lifetime in our ministry. My wife was saved in Victory Outreach, enjoyed the blessings of visionary ministry. We met in Victory Outreach. My son, now 17, was born in Victory Outreach (Knows nothing else). Is involved in our youth ministry, and worship team. It is a great joy! Yet, under such a great team, there is intention. There is purpose. There is goal setting and hope. In other words, every team has a leader. Yes, everyone talks of team, teams, teams. Including myself. But, every team needs a leader. Today I would like to highlight, one part of the leadership - teamwork of our founders, Pastor Sonny & Julie Arguinzoni. Being involved for the last 27 years I'd like to share things I have seen from near and far.

8 things Iv'e learned from my spiritual mother:

1. Her faith in God

Julie Rivera, (Her maiden name) knew very well the hardships of the inner city. She lived in the East Los Angeles, where she saw first hand the ravages of crime infested streets, including her brother being an addict. Yet, through her hurt and pain, the Lord touched her life. She was never the same from that day on. From that time, God kept her close. Yet, she desired no one but God in her life. It was her faith which kept her. After a time, she entered the Latin American Bible Institute, in La Puente, Ca. Her desire was to become a missionary. And hasn't God honored her heart? It was her faith in God that has stood out.

2. Her love for her man

From the time Julie Rivera met Sonny Arguinzoni, there was set a love for a lifetime. God had put together the perfect match. From their matrimony to currently, Sis. Julie has stood by her man. It is no wonder God has poured many wonderful blessings upon Victory Outreach, for it always starts at the top. It starts with communion with God. Sonny and Julie are back to back partners, if I can use that simple but profound phrase. They are like minded, in heart and vision. Just recently, the cast for Pastor Sonny's celebration was held at our church. You had the cast, and the symphony band. I went over to observe a few things and get back to my study at home. I wanted to simply stay 15 - 20 minutes. I ended up staying 3-4 hours! During that time I sat away in our sound booth. I was so moved at the music, the intensity, and the professionalism, that tears began to flow. I went down, and greeted Sis. Julie, and thanked her for her hard work for my spiritual father. What a thing of beauty to behold. A woman showing true authentic love for her God -given man. The saying is true, that, "Behind every great man of God, there is a great wife."

3. She loves her family with all her heart.

One thing that stands out is her love for family. And as a bystander (Or conscientious observer) it is a blessing to see her children involved in ministry. From remembering their childhood, to becoming grown ups, staying the course, to developing mega ministry mindsets. What a joy it is personally for me. Imagine that! If we are blessed, imagine how she feels? Wow! It can't get better than that! I pray the same patterns continue with my son in our locality. She loves her family with all her heart.

4. Her Leadership and Creativity

Sis. Julie is one of the driving forces behind the success of our ministry. Her leadership within the UWIM, and many other multiple projects to reach, and equip people has made a great difference. And within that, she is inspired by God to go to another level on a constant basis. I cannot wait to sit in that ballroom, as we celebrate next week, the birthday of our founder. Thousands of men and women have benefited and have been inspired by her leadership and creative eye.

5. Her dedication and hard work.

Many people see others on the cutting edge. They aspire to become. They see the glare of the lights, and recognition it brings. Yet, what they do not see, is the price it takes, the sacrifices it calls for. There is no long lasting ministry or success without hard work. Jesus worked hard. He was so tired, he actually slept on the boat. Now, if you know anything about boats. They do not stop swaying, because of the waves. Yet He accomplished His mission. Julie Arguinzoni, is a dedicated woman. She never stops. From what I've seen, she always has her mind going. Going for the next task at hand. And it is not simply to accomplish the task. It once again, begins with her faith in God. It is a faith to reach people.

6. Her example of setting standards in the lives of women.
United Women In Ministry, is a ministry under the umbrella of our movement. God touches women from all walks of life. They receive Christ, and become part of our churches. Then God begins to do an internal work within their heart. This is where, Sis. Julie fulfills one of her greatest ministry roles. There is a place of belonging and equipping that women receive. A place and a standard, they never knew before. They become part of a great family, which they have never felt before. From the abuse or lifestyle, they lived in their past life. From losing their children, to being a battered spouse, having a loveless home, or living dependant on substance abuse. They finally feel they are part of a gigantic fabric of womanhood. They comprehend their uniqueness, and special importance as communicated to them from scripture. Then, something comes alive within them. One of the causes is due to the fact that Sis. Julie plays a God given role. She thrives and gets in a kind of 'zone'. A zone that says, 'This is what I was born to do'. A zone that translates itself into working and discipling women for God. And let's face it, (I speak as a man) what would we do without women? I'm serious! I guess this topic plays a sentimental feeling in my life. Seeing that my wife in her own local way, attempted to operate in that same pattern in her own vicinity and church. I am so blessed because our church enjoys, the maturity, strength, and vision they have. I am at a place where I must deal with our women, where before, I really never had to take detail notice of their ministry plans. What's made it all the more easier, has been the training they have received in UWIM. And in spite of their loss, losing their church spiritual mother, they continue to thrive in God and ministry. There are tremendous biblical standards in the lives of women!

7. A giving heart
She has a giving heart. Many people think a leader is simply, once again, on some pedestal or a high unapproachable spot. Others are very prone to judge things they are not aware of. And yet, there's many others who have seen firsthand, the love shown by great leaders. Acts of service which has made a powerful impact in their life. Some times, those same acts of service are unannounced or untrumpeted, because of their humility. Because they acted on impulse from the Lord, and their desire was to keep their service discreet. There is a scripture in Prov. 27:2 that details what I'm saying: "Don't call attention to yourself; let others do that for you." In December 2005, a 3 weeks prior to the worst day of my life (Looking at it through a human perspective. Though God had a plan, and still has. Talking of my wife's passing). And I'll never forget it. Sis. Julie arranged for my son to go on a boat ride. A boat ride with some leaders. My son had a blast. He was encouraged and excited as he came home and told his mom. And she was glad and smiled. Then when she passed 3 weeks later. Sis. Julie sent him to the Youth Winter Retreat in New Mexico. All expenses paid. And there, they treated him very well. Now do you see, my loyalty? Its humble acts of service as that, that just melts many of hearts. Thank you Sis. Julie.

8. A vision for the world.
I say a vision for the world, because it is exactly that. Now let me backtrack on this. There are many great denominations and movements within the body of Christ. There are. Makes you think of countries, different time zones, and far away continents. The vision that God has given our ministry is to reach the inner cities of the world. I did not say suburbs, nice, well to do and affluent communities. Though many have come from there. They still need God. They are welcomed with open arms both now and until Jesus comes back. Yet, I'm talking of the inner cities. Places of danger. Places of crime and disease, and heart wrenching stories. That's the vision I'm talking about. Now, who in the world would have a heart to go to places such as that? Well, Jesus would. And that's the heart that Sis. Julie and pastor Sonny have. People from all walks of life have received Christ. We are currently planning major crusades in major cities around the globe. The best is yet to come. Sis. Julie believes that if she can impact one life, she can impact a continent. She has a vision for the world.

What about you? Are you making a difference or at least attempting to, in your community and county? I say to you, you can do great things for God. Now is the time and hour. God has not called the angels or the animals to fulfill the preaching of the gospel in this world. He's called you. People need Jesus. Let's step out in the pattern of those who have gone before us. May we use their example as a spring board to make everlasting imprints in thousands of lives. I know that's what we're in mode of doing. With all we have, either we will do it, or we will die trying.

She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. 26 She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. 27 She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. 28 Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: 29 "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all." 30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. 31 Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

MINISTRY OF CHRISTIAN RECOVERY HOMES

He woke up in the morning at 4:00 a.m. trembling and feeling pain all over his body, in the roach infested room. He began feeling the effects, and needed to get out. So out into the cold he went through the back door and down the stairs to the alley below. He realized he had left his little .22 caliber stashed behind the urine stained mattress. He said, "I don't need it. I gotta go." After jumping the fence, he began looking around. Coughing and breathing the mist that comes from a cold morning, he began thinking what to do next. He began walking toward the house he had been casing the last few days. He needed a fix, and he needed it bad. He was strung out. So before he made it to the street the house was on, he noticed a lady at a bus stop a block away. She fit the profile of a responsible and dedicated woman. She fit the profile of an easy pigeon. At this moment he didn't care who she was or how she would feel. He was on a mission. Going a little further, he realized she hadn't saw him in the dark. He concentrated on her like a hawk, her purse by her side, he managed to get a little closer, ever so discreet. A couple of cars passed by distracting the lady as she waited for her bus, around the corner. Then he thought to himself, "When another car passes by I'll make my move." Just then an orange colored van passed by used by a local paperboy. As the lady watched the van go from house to house. He ran towards her and without warning, grabbed her purse, and fled. He felt, "Hey, don't you understand? I'm not going to be denied. This purse is business as usual. Ain't no different from any other time. Forget that lady!" He ran that morning like a junkyard dog ready to attack. For he needed to get well and bad. The lady seeing what had happened so quickly, began to scream with a shreaking yell that pierced the morning dawn. With tears in her eyes she cried out, "My purse, My purse! Help me, My Purse!. Come back, Please!" In her purse she had carried all of her personal effects, cell phone, keys, wallet, and the money she had saved for the rent the next day. Yet scream she did, to no avail, as one light after another began to come on, in the second and third storied projects. So there he went, running into the dark alleys, clutching that purse. The only means possible for his medicine for the time being. The dogs were loud with their barking, as Rogelio ran towards the connections housed, in the dark drug infested alleys. Yep, this is just another normal day of the mean streets of yet another city in the big U.S. of A.

Why The Ministry of Christian Homes?

1. Because the government is crying out! The government has no cure, no answer.
2. Because homes are falling apart.
22 million Americans are addicted to alcohol; They spend 90 billion a year on alcohol. every 30 min. someone is killed in the U.S. in an alcohol related accident. There’s over 600,000 heroin users. Which they spend between 150 - $ 200 a day for their habits. In the last 30 days, 19% of High school seniors. have tried crack or cocaine. 3 people die every second, 180 every minute. Not to mention the families broken and destroyed due to drugs, gang violence and crime.
3. Because we have a mission as Christians to reach the hurting.
4. Because the cry of the hurting has gone up to heaven. Exo. 3
5. Global cities is where Jesus said to "Go!"

Acts 1:8 "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." The Samaritans were the most hated people. The call to the apostles was to get rid of their hatred, many in their society previously had. It was a call to put away prejudice and show real love to hurting populations.

In Luke 15 Jesus tells a story of a young man who wanted his inheritance. After basically telling his dad, he wanted his money, and making a statement, "I don't care if I lose my right as your son, or even being called your son. Give me my money." Going off into a far city, many commentators have said was Rome or Antioch. He began living like any other worldly young guy, which means to party, frequent the local prostitute joints, and hang out with deadbeats. After getting to the lowest point of his existence, he remembered his dad. Attempting to make his way back, he repented and came to a change of heart, mind and will. His Dad, looking for him everday, the same as our mothers and fathers looked for us and could not sleep, till we arrived. Saw him, and came rushing and running toward him, with tears in his eyes. The boy, tells his dad, "Father, I'm not worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your slaves." The dad not having it, commanded his servants to go kill the fatted calf, then clothed him with the family robe and sandals, and a ring on his finger. All which represented, honor, sonship, power of attorney, and reconciliation. And there was great celebration in the air. So it is, when sons and daughters give their hearts to the Lord. When they become restored by the power of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is a restoration I have seen firsthand, in my 20 years of full time ministry.

What do Christian Recovery Homes do?

1. They produce a different grade of disciple.
They produce people who’ve been tested and learned the intensity of Christian ministry. In the home, they learn the word of God. They learn to pray and build their relationship with Jesus Christ. They learn what it means to be a disciple. They learn to be obedient and stand in trials. Jesus was in a type of home. He lived together with His disciples. They had a mission. They learned at His feet. They prayed. He sent them two by two's. He taught them concerning ministry in many settings. The results are found in the book of Acts. 'These me who have turned the world upside down." Or in Acts 4:13 When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.

2. It is what makes our ministry unique. There are many dying churches in the U.S. today. One reason is they have become as a frog in the kettle. They have stubbornly refused to change. As the world has passed them by, they have continued to adhere to the old methods of evangelism or philosophy of ministry, albeit with good motives. Listen, values or biblical principles never change. Only our methodology does. In our movement, it's imperative to reach out to drug infested communities. It is our vision, and call. To us, it is beautiful (Not the crime. But the potential of changed lives with the gospel of Christ). Thank God we are a body, where every part serving and fulfills its role. 1 Cor 12.

3. Gives the worst of the worst, hope.
Victory Outreach International is a leader in inner cities worldwide. The first promise God has given our International minstry is found in Isa. 45:2-3 “I will go before you and will level the mountains, I will break down the gates of bronze and cut through the bars of iron. I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD, The God of Israel, who summons you by name.” The second is found in Isa. 45:2-3 “Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes. For you will spread out to the right and to the left; your descendents will dispossess nations and settle in their desolate cities.”

I was in the home for 3 long years. I have 10 years full time home directing. Being in a Christian Recovery home was one of the hardest things I've had to endure in my life. The first 6 months I wanted to leave everyday, like a chicken through a cornfield. After getting over that time, I began to see the vision God had for my life. I began noticing the change He was doing in the life of our residents. And seeing the success of the life they had after graduating to the next level. There was a time when many ministries (I won't name many of them. For you have all heard of them) judged our vision (Though they'll never admit it) due to the fact, we had a heart to reach drug addicts, gang members, and their families. They called us the Addict ministry. They made their holier-than -thou innuendos and sarcastic remarks. Now what do you see? You see many ministries who came to their senses and have said, "Its true. Jesus dealt with the rough and tumble people. He was on the streets. This is the wave of the future. Inner cities are growing and we must show compassion." Victory Outreach is the largest Christian Recovery Homes ministry in the U.S. under the leadership of Pastor Sonny and Julie Arguinzoni. It is recognized throughout the world, including taking part in President Geroge W. Bush's Faith -based Intitiative. As long as people have breath, they have hope. The hope of a better and changed life in Christ Jesus. And so you ask:

What is a Christian Recovery Home?

• It is a River of cleansing. God cleanses away our sin. He cleans up our bad habits.
• It's a spiritual Army base. We are in a spiritual war. We're called to be God's soldiers.
• It is a Holy Ghost hospital.
• It is a Bible college. Men and women learn the word of God, meditate on it, apply it, and preach it to the world.
• It is a Home. Many individuals come from broken homes. Many have never had a home. Others, were properties of state ran orphanages. While others are some who simply knew their step dads or moms. Many times living in drug infested motels. It is a home. God's home.

What I Learned As A Director?
I can’t treat everyone the same.

What are the types we work with? Glad you asked.The rejects of society; The burn outs; The tweakers; The jail house lawyers; The drama queens; The spiritual eggheads; Religious grasshopper; and so on and so on.

There is no easy way for discipleship.

It is not easy to work with people who have have been a certain way for many years. Many could say, 'Yeah, but God forgives, and saves.' Yes, Its true. But its a process. It doesn't happen overnight. There are many so called Christian homes, who have a time set. After two to three weeks they can go and find employment. Do you see the trouble the certain ministry is causing their lives? An addict is a certain way many years. After two weeks they still have that itch. Then they go, as a dog to its vomit. And so there they are the same way as before. When Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead. Right after, He said, unravel him. And so it takes unraveling for a person to learn and be discipled. Its Ok , because that's our call. But, oh', the joy when they become disciples. Praise the Lord!

Learned It is God’s Home.

That being in a center, or a home cannot change anyone. Man made formulas do NOT work! Just think about the recent deaths of super stars, who tried self help methods or entered those centers. Only God changes lives. Many drug rehabilitaion centers charge thousands of dollars. They come up with their, 'Scientific treatment' that focuses on the symptom and not the true cause. The heart is the cause. The change in the heart must take place.

The one’s you least likely suspect are usually one’s that catch it.

Those individuals, who apply what the word says. Those many steroetyped as the least likely to succeed, are usually the ones who make it in Christ and make an impact. Just ask King David. Or the many multiple men of women of God in the Bible. 1 Cor 1:27

What Results Take Place?
God does miracles in men and women. He heals our minds and hearts in the home; He puts character in their soul; He gives them spiritual backbone to stand in God; He restores families; He gives vision and hope for people. Kids recieve new parents, moms and dads; Parents receive new children; They become a post card for their parents; Spouses get new husbands and wives; Society gets better productive citizens; The church receives growing disciples and future leaders; The gospel's influence goes into the G.G.G. mode. It Grows. Goes a lot further. Reaches its Goal.

We're talking about . . .

• Treasures out of darkness.
• Trophy of God’s Love
• Testimony of God’s Grace.
• Teller's of God’s word.
• Transmitter of God’s vision.

I'm very thankful for the ministry that was humble enough to allow God to use it to bring a change in my life and literally to millions. If I would not of endured the pressure, the pain and the process. I would not be talking to you here. It's what I needed at the time. It was where God healed my many annoyances, strongholds and habits. It's where I was exposed to full time ministry. I'm thankful for the Lord, and my pastor who gave me an opportunity. To the director God used in my life. 1 Tim 1:12 Be resolved! Be used of God in this day and hour!

Luke 15:7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

And the wife said, “Yeah, I see your picture and say to myself, "What other problem can be greater than this one?"

Old Farmer Johnson was dying. The family was standing around his bed. With a low voice he said to his wife: "When I'm dead I want you to marry farmer Jones." She said "No, I can't marry anyone after you. He said, "But I want you to." She said, "But why?" He said: "Because Jones cheated me once in a horse deal!"

The Gold Ring many couples wear on their finger as a married people, presents a very special display. It signifies 5 major graces within your relationship:

1. Symbolizes the endlessness of your love.

2. It talks of your committment to each other, wherever you are. Regardless of temptation. It reminds you of your loyalty.

3. Gold symbolizes the purity of your heart toward one another.

4. Its a shadow of the Holy Spirit in our life, showing we are His.

5. Confirms an ancient tradition. That a vein in the 4th finger of the left hand went directly to the heart.

The Wedding Ring is an outward sign of a heart to heart and spiritual bond that unites a loving husband and wife. It's when two people feel an attraction and catch what real love is. It's giving expecting nothing in return. When two people are resolved they commit themselves to live their lives together, with the motive of giving and not taking. Serving and not being served. Blessing and not being blessed. That is what brings and keeps marriages together for a lifetime. Marriage is a serious and wonderful thing. Someone once commented, “Marriage is an adventure that begins at an altar, and one that ends at a gravesite.”

5 Key Ingredients in Marriage

I. The Formation Of Marriage
God instituted marriage. And He designed it to be a blessing, to each other and their families. Someone said, "Marriage can be heaven on earth or it can be hell on earth." God put you and your wife or husband together. Doesn't matter what you're going through. God put you together. I know. 'He snores; or she doesn't know how to cook." Yet, God put you both together.

II. The Foes of Marriage
There's many foes, that do not want you together. Marriage is a symbol of what's in heaven. It gives the devil fits. It reminds him of the Body of Christ and the Bridegroom. That is why he's at work to destroy your marriage. Sometimes he'll wait, and do it one thing at a time. The media doesn't help. When you have shows like Mad Men, or Married with Children. Among some of the worst shows, we've ever seen. It takes its toll on couples who are simply falling out of love. Is that you? What about family interference? Family members always getting involved in your marriage relationship. They can't ever mind their own business! I say to them,(For you. Not unless you like it) Get a life! From the Mother-law, to other siblings. You wonder, How can they ever stay together?!

Iii. The Failure of Marriage
Its been surveyed that statistics of divorce are the same or higher in the church, than the world. Divorce should not be mentioned. It should be a bad word in your relationship. God put you together. You made a vow to Him. Do you remember this?

Will you take this person

to be your wedded spouse
Promising to keep cherish and defend
And to be her or his faithful and true spouse

as you both shall live?
I _________ to you to be my wedded spouse,

To have and to hold from

this day forward for better....

for worse for richer....

for poorer in sickness and in health

to love and to cherish

till death us do part.
Many times a beautiful couple turns because of selfishness on both parts. They both want to have it both ways. It's always important to know, that any successful marriage has Christ at the center of it. Being married to my wife of 15 years was no easy task. She, early in our marriage had to adjust to alot of things. She lived with friends for about 5-6 years and was involved in ministry. Me? It was full time ministry. I was in a Victory Outreach Christian Recovery Home for 3 years. I had known Vera in the church prior. When we tied the knot. It was great. Then later on, some little schisms began. From washing to cleaning, or me saying the wrong thing. Or her not thinking what I thought she already knew had to be done, and so forth. For the first two years, talk about anger, mayhem, rage, and tears. Wow, it was tough. Until, we found the secret. And that was, 'I can't have it my way. I am not right, and neither are you. God is the only one right. And we need to change according to His word.' Then it got better and better. I remember one time, we're on our way back to our apartment, back from another busy day of ministry. I clicked the opener and nothing. We go to the store thinking its the batteries. We try again, and nothing. I open the garage door by lifting it, and put my son through. He goes around, opens the front door. No lights, nothing works. I'm not in the mood, and I'm thinking, "Oh, my God? I think I know what it is. And yep, it's exactly that. She didn't pay the electric bill." I'm feeling, 'Hey, I work hard. I deal with alot of multiple situations, issues, projects, and multiple personalities. Do I need to put up with this? I'm tired right now, its 10:30 PM(Oh, don't tell me? You've never felt like this. I'm sorry, maybe its just me. I just wanted to be personal here) Ministry has its curves and turns. Normal people come home from work, eat dinner, look outside the window, put on the porch light, yawn, sit down, watch a movie or a game and maybe go to Bible study once a week. Us in full time ministry. Let me just say this, It's never a dull moment(I'm not saying we're better. Its just that in ministry you live being on your toes. Pretty intense stuff). Let's get back. Well, at this time, It's on, and I mean its on. Its WWIII! And it gets ugly. It's, I think the worst argument, we've ever had in our 15 years of marriage. It's like the devil came and slept in our sofa in that little 2 story apartment. We fought till maybe 5:00 a.m. My son. My poor son, at that moment was frantic. He was paranoid and didn't know what to do. He was yelling, crying, pleading with us to stop. But we dealt with it that night. We talked, forgave each other, made up, cried, and prayed. Some other fools, (Selfish at that. Yes, its true, Fools.) would've of taken off, and never returned. Never thinking that there's hope. That their kids wanted them to be happy and stay together. Thats all they wanted, a united family. That's all. Some guys act foolish. How? They retreat, and separate themselves from their spouses. Develop different bank accounts, go to different churches, make excuses for not to come home. Then, they attempt to justify it. Not knowing that everything that happens in that household is a result of their leadership!

Prov. 18:22, "The man who finds a wife finds a treasure and recieves favor from the LORD. The man who finds a wife finds a good thing; she is a blessing to him from the LORD."

IV. The Fruit of Marriage

What a blessing when all the pistons are firing. When things are good. When your home atmosphere is what God designed it to be. I knew I was doing my job, when my wife would sing as she cooked and tended to needs. I tell couples, to hang in there. That it'll get better. You never know what you have until you lose it. That when you find love, hang onto it. For it is hard to find love. And when you do find love, its great, its good, its blessed, it beautiful. Tough sometimes, but for the most part tremendous. To love and feel wanted. To give and see that you have a part in the life of the one you love. There will be fruit. Maybe you don't see it. But there's a blessing right around the corner.

According to Ephesians 5 The husband and wife have different roles. He's to be:

• Manager, the
• Model and the
• Minister. (I didn't say Monster)

1 Pet 3:7 Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers."

Warren Wiersbe said: "The husband must be the 'thermostat' in the home, setting the emotional and spiritual temperature. The wife often is the 'thermometer,' letting him know what that temperature is!"

So she also is to be his . . .

• Helpmate - (I didn't say Hell mate!)
• Soulmate - The best of friends
• Team mate - Back to back partner. and
• Playmate(Oh my', should I say this? What? Do you expect me to explain? You is crazyyy. You've got indigestion. But, Ok I'll make it biblical . . Heb. 13:4)

V. Fight for your Marriage

You live and learn. You know the story I told earlier? When the lights were off, she began putting candles on in the dark. Do you know what she told me after the big fight, in tears? She said since the lights were off, she wanted to make the best of it and have a romantic night. I felt, "What a big Buffoon I am!" What I'm saying is, we must find the best solution and work it out, and not getting into it, like we did. Fight for your marriage. Listen to each other. Catch the meaning of what they're really saying. Not how they're saying it. Work on your marriage. If you stay the same, you'll grow apart. If love and commitment is there you’ll be blessed. If you follow God’s word, and pray, you'll make it. What it takes for a happy marriage? It takes commitment. It takes companionship. It takes communication. It takes spiritual character. It takes the ATM cash factor. What you put in is what you get out of it. Sad is the day, when you both go to withdraw, and read: Insufficient funds. That's right, marriage is what you make it. So what that Ring? You wear it, but is it important to you? Or just some little bling you love to look at, with your rose colored glasses?
